Levels of care

Programs

Recovery usually moves through more than one level of care. Here's what each one involves, so you can see where you might begin.

At Serenity Moon Recovery, care is organized as a continuum. Many people start with medically supervised detox, where nurses and physicians help the body through withdrawal safely. From there, residential treatment offers round-the-clock structure and daily therapy in a small, home-like setting.

As you get steadier, care can step down to an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which keeps regular therapy in your week while you return to home, work or school. Aftercare and continuing care help you hold on to what you've built once formal treatment ends.

Not everyone needs every level, and the right starting point depends on your health, your substance use and your situation at home. Our clinical team uses a full assessment, based on widely used placement criteria, to recommend a level of care. If another setting would serve you better, we'll tell you and help you find it.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

You don't have to figure it out alone. When you call, an admissions coordinator asks about your health, substance use and support at home, and our clinical team recommends a starting point after a full assessment. Here's how admissions works.

Not always. Detox is recommended when stopping a substance could cause significant or dangerous withdrawal, such as with alcohol or benzodiazepines. Others may start in residential or outpatient care.

Yes. Treatment plans are reviewed as you progress, and care can step down to a less intensive level, or step up if you need more support.

Many plans cover medically necessary addiction treatment. Most PPO plans, in and out of network. Medicaid and Medicare are not accepted. We'll verify your benefits for free before you decide anything.
