Why Serenity Moon

Small by design, thorough in care

  • A small residential setting, and care that's personal

Two small homes in Winnetka with 6 beds each, 12 in total, so the people caring for you know your name, your history and your plan.

  • A range of clinical therapies

Individual and group therapy, CBT, family therapy and more, chosen for your needs and adjusted as you progress. Not every client receives every therapy.

  • Medical and psychiatric support

Detox is overseen by our medical director, Dr. Courtney Scott, and a board-certified psychiatrist supports people with co-occurring mental health conditions.

  • Practical support from admission through aftercare

A free insurance check before you decide, help with FMLA and disability paperwork, arrival planning, and a continuing-care plan before you leave.

Treatment programs

Medical detox, then residential treatment

Most people start with detox and move into residential care. A clinical assessment decides where you begin.
  • Medical Detox

    Who it serves
Adults who need to stop alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines or other substances safely, especially when withdrawal could be risky.
    What care involves
24/7 medical care through withdrawal, medication to ease symptoms when appropriate, rest, nourishing meals and early counseling.
How level of care is decided
A clinical assessment of your substance use, health and withdrawal risk, reviewed by our medical team.
    What comes next
Many people move straight into residential treatment with the same care team once withdrawal is managed.
  • Residential Treatment

    Who it serves
Adults who are medically stable and need structure, daily therapy and distance from everyday triggers to build recovery.
    What care involves
Individual and group therapy, psychiatric support when needed, family involvement and practical life skills, in a small, home-like setting.
How level of care is decided
Your care team reviews your progress regularly and decides with you when you're ready to step down.
    What comes next
Before you leave, you build a plan for continued treatment, medication follow-up and support close to home.
Aftercare & Continuing CarePlanning for continued treatment, medication follow-up and recovery support starts before you leave.

Admissions & insurance

Getting started, in five steps

  1. Step 1: Contact admissions

Call or send a short form, day or night. Asking questions doesn't commit you to anything.

  2. Step 2: Initial assessment

A private conversation about your health and history, so our clinical team can recommend the right level of care.

  3. Step 3: Verify insurance and costs

We check your benefits for free and explain anticipated costs before you decide.

  4. Step 4: Confirm fit and availability

We confirm our program suits your clinical needs and a bed is available. If it isn't the right fit, we'll help you find care that is.

  5. Step 5: Arrange your arrival

We help plan travel, timing and what to bring, so the first day feels manageable.

Questions

Questions people often ask first

Medical detox helps you through withdrawal safely, with medical care around the clock. Residential treatment usually comes next: you live in one of our homes and take part in daily therapy to build the skills for lasting recovery.

A clinical assessment looks at your substance use, physical and mental health, withdrawal risk and situation at home. Our clinical team recommends a level of care from there and reviews it with you as you progress.

Most PPO plans, in and out of network. Medicaid and Medicare are not accepted. Coverage depends on your plan, eligibility, medical necessity and network status, so we check your benefits for free and explain any costs before you decide.

Yes. Our team can help with FMLA paperwork and short-term disability or EDD documentation. Eligibility and approval are decided by your employer, plan or the state agency, not by Serenity Moon. See FMLA & disability support.

Yes, with your permission. We involve loved ones through family therapy and education, and we share contact and visiting guidelines at admission. We only speak with family about your care if you've agreed in writing.

Federal law (HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2) and California law give substance use treatment records strong protection, and we generally share information only with your written consent. A few legal exceptions apply, such as a medical emergency, and we explain them at admission.
