Our approach

Careful, personal treatment, one step at a time

Recovery isn't one-size-fits-all, so our care isn't either. Here's how we get to know you, build a plan with you and adjust it as you go.

How care works

From first assessment to life after treatment

These are the stages of care at Serenity Moon. How long each one takes depends on you.
  1. Step 1: Assessment

Before you arrive, our team asks about your health, your substance use, any medications you take and what's going on at home. A clinical assessment, not a website or a phone call, determines which level of care is safe and right for you.

  2. Step 2: A plan built around you

Your medical and clinical team shapes a treatment plan around your history, health and goals. There's no preset schedule that everyone follows.

  3. Step 3: Medical care and therapy

When detox is needed, it's overseen by our medical director with licensed nurses on site around the clock. Therapy starts early, with individual and group therapy chosen with you.

  4. Step 4: Regular progress reviews

Medical, nursing and clinical staff meet regularly to talk about how you're doing and adjust your plan. Decisions about stepping down to a lower level of care are made with you.

  5. Step 5: Planning for what comes next

Before you leave, you and your care team build a plan for the months ahead, which may include outpatient therapy, support groups and relapse prevention, plus aftercare and continuing care close to home.

What guides us

The principles behind every plan

  • You're a person, not a diagnosis

We use plain, respectful language and treat substance use as a health condition, without judgment.

  • Small on purpose

We care for a small group of residents at a time, so the people looking after you know you and how you're doing.

  • Family, when you want them

With your permission, we involve the people who matter to you through family therapy and education.

  • Mind and body together

Substance use often travels with anxiety, depression or trauma. Your team looks at your mental health as part of your care.

A team that talks to each other

Your care brings together physicians, nurses, therapists and support staff. Detox is overseen by our medical director, Dr. Courtney Scott, and licensed nurses are on site 24 hours a day.

Because the whole team meets regularly about each resident, you won't have to repeat your story to every new face, and your plan can change as quickly as you do.

  • Licensed clinicians are identified by their credentials on our team page
  • Support staff, such as recovery technicians, work alongside them but don't provide clinical treatment

Therapies

Therapies we may use with you

Which therapies you use, and how often, depends on your treatment plan.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

A practical talk therapy that helps you spot triggers, rethink unhelpful thoughts and build coping skills you can use every day.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI)

A judgment-free conversation style that helps you explore mixed feelings about change and find your own reasons to move forward.

  • Family Therapy

Helps loved ones understand addiction, set healthy boundaries and support recovery without burning themselves out.

  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

FDA-approved medications combined with counseling for opioid and alcohol use disorders, when a medical provider agrees it is a good fit.

Questions

Questions about our approach

Through an assessment with our clinical team. They look at your health, your substance use and your situation, and recommend a level of care. If our programs aren't the right fit, we'll help you look for care that is.

No. Everyone shares the same safe structure, such as medical oversight and a daily rhythm, but your therapies, goals and pace follow your own treatment plan.

When it's clinically appropriate, yes. Medication-assisted treatment can ease withdrawal and cravings for some people. Your medical team will talk through the options with you, and the choice is yours.

No one can honestly promise that. Recovery is different for everyone. What we can promise is a careful plan, a team that pays attention, and help planning for life after you leave.
